Labor Union Apprenticeships
Union apprenticeships offer one more avenue for continuing your education.  Apprenticeships usually allow you to get paid while you learn a skilled labor trade.  The button below will link you to an IL resource for Apprenticeships; however, we also recommend that you contact the individual labor hall of interest for application and deadline requirements.

You Don't Need a College Degree to Land a High-Paying Job

While there has been a recent push for exploring the trades as a post-high school plan, there is still some stigma associated with not going to college.  This short article does a great job of talking about the security that exists with jobs related to such post-high school avenues.  Keep in mind that in addition to joining a labor union, some occupations require training that exists on the community college campus.   Many career paths only require a 2 year Associate's Degree or a 1 year certificate program.  In addition to Labor Unions, don't overlook the cost effective training that occurs on our community college campuses as well.  Both labor halls and community colleges can fast-track you to well-paying careers!
