ACT
Students interested in attending a college or university after high school should consider taking the ACT test. This exam is used as a college entrance requirement. We recommend that Juniors consider taking the ACT in either December, April or June. For each of these exams, you can pay for an option called Test Information Release and receive your test questions and answers back. A student could then use this info to prep for an additional ACT test prior to his/her senior year.
To prepare for the ACT, the "Prep for the ACT" link is an actual full length retired ACT. The "ACT Sample Questions" button will take you to ACT's site for some online test prep questions.
If you would like to register to take the ACT on a national test date, the "Register for an upcoming ACT" button will take you to the ACT site. There is a great deal of information on the ACT website which is worth exploring!
For students interested in being considered for IL State Scholar distinction in their senior year, all qualifying exams (SAT/ACT) must be taken between August 1 and June 30 of their junior year. Tests taken before August of the junior year and after June at the completion of the junior year will not be considered for State Scholar status. With the COVID pandemic, this guideline may change. For up-to-date State Scholar guidance, please check their site linked below.
When registering for a national ACT exam, please be sure to include the code for CM: 140305. This ensures that CMHS receives the scores and that programs like IL State Scholars receive the scores as well.
